I am a qualified social worker with a PhD in Mental Health Recovery, offering
compassionate, evidence-informed support for individuals, professionals and organisations.
My work is grounded in humanistic values, cultural humility and a strong belief in each person’s capacity for healing and meaningful change
My name is Ali Ghafoor, a dedicated and values-driven social worker with extensive experience across mental health, community services and recovery-oriented practice. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mental Health Recovery and have worked with individuals and families from diverse cultural and lived-experience backgrounds.
My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based and collaborative. I believe that all people are born with an inherent capacity for good, growth and purpose. My role is to walk alongside individuals and professionals, offering guidance, reflection and support to help them achieve sustainable wellbeing and professional integrity.
My passion for social work values began in childhood while living in public housing after arriving in Australia as a young refugee from Iraq, fleeing war and conflict. These early experiences shaped my deep commitment to social justice, compassion and supporting individuals and families facing adversity.
Individualised support for adults experiencing mental health challenges, life transitions, stress, or recovery journeys. Sessions are tailored, confidential, and grounded in evidence based and recovery-oriented practice.
Clinical and reflective supervision for social workers, support workers, and human service professionals. Supervision focuses on ethical practice, wellbeing, skill development, and sustainable professional growth.
Facilitated therapeutic and reflective groups focused on recovery, identity, resilience, and shared learning. Groups are designed to foster safety, connection, and empowerment.
Interactive workshops for organisations, teams, and community groups on mental health recovery, trauma-informed practice, reflective practice and supervision, and cultural safety and ethical decision-making.
Ali’s depth of knowledge and calm presence created a space where I felt truly heardand supported. His approach to recovery is both professional and deeply human.

Ali’s workshop was engaging and practical. Our team walked away with a clearer understanding of recovery-oriented practice and how to apply it in real settings.

The supervision I received from Ali strengthened my confidence, ethics, and resilience as a practitioner. Highly recommended for anyone in human services.
